Cmpus Crime Report: Thursday, June 15, 2000

Attempted Burglary

* June 13 -- Lesley Farley was arrested after allegedly trying to break into the basement of the Wurst Pizza House, located at 4301 Baltimore Avenue, at 2:18 a.m. Officers arrived on the scene after the owners of the business reported the incident.

Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act

* June 11 -- Dereek Nobles was arrested for allegedly carrying a Lorcin Arms 9 mm semiautomatic pistol after being involved in a traffic accident on the 4000 block of Walnut Street and fleeing the scene. Officers pursued the subject on foot, apprehended the weapon and arrested the suspect at 6:30 p.m.

Robbery

* June 10 -- A male University employee reported that a black male approximately 20 years old, 6'3" in height, of thin build and wearing a red bandanna, dark blue hooded sweatshirt and light denim jeans stopped him, flashed a silver handgun and stole his wallet at 6:30 a.m.

Burglary

* June 10 -- A person unaffiliated with the University reported that someone entered their home on the 300 block of South 42nd Avenue and took a backpack valued at $300 with contents. The suspect entered the home by forcing open a northwest window between 7:30 p.m on June 9 and 4:30 a.m. on June 10.

Theft from Vehicle

* June 10 -- A female student reported that four hubcaps, worth approximately $250 together, were stolen from her 1997 Ford Probe parked on the 200 block of South 42nd Street between 11:00 p.m. on June 10 and 9:30 p.m. on June 11.

* June 10 -- A male unaffiliated with the University reported that the driver's side door to his vehicle was opened and a car radio worth $300 and $5 of currency was taken from the car between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. when it was parked in a lot at 3400 Chestnut Street.

* June 9 -- A female unaffiliated with the University reported that her CD case, of unknown value, and her registration and insurance cards were taken from her 1997 Jeep while it was parked at 3850 Spruce Street from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

* June 9 -- A male staff member reported that the door handle of the driver's side door of his vehicle was damaged and a $300 radio was stolen from his 1995 Geo Prism parked at 3335 Chestnut Street sometime on June 9.

* June 8 -- A male staff member reported that his passenger side window was smashed and a backpack, valued at $100 with contents, was taken from the car while parked on the 200 block of South 33rd Street on June 8.
