Asian student grp. elects new board Wharton junior Sammy Sugiura was elected the new chairperson and the body voted in College junior James Yoo as vice chairperson. "I'm definitely excited about... what we, as a coalition, can accomplish," Sugiura said. "I've seen great progress in my years here, and I think that [there is a] possibility for much more to happen." In the other board positions, Jenny Yan was chosen as vice chairperson for political affairs, Olivia Chung was selected as the vice chairperson of cultural affairs and Amit Vora won the position of vice chairperson of community affairs. Additionally, Robyn Foo became the new secretary/treasurer and Mona Parikh was selected as the executive outreach chair. "This was the most competitive, interactive, exciting and longest election we've ever had," outgoing APSC Chairperson Hoa Duong said. Duong added, "Hopefully, this next board will be able to continue [this year's board's] momentum, which we are confident that they will." Sugiura said he is equally hopeful about the coming year, adding that he will work to continue to champion the APSC's ongoing issues. "We are asking the University to provide for us, as students, the resources that are needed," Sugiura said. "We are demanding that the administration respond to the needs of the students, [and] I will make sure that these issues will not wait any longer." -- Marina DeScenza
