Proud AmericanProud AmericanTo the Editor: It is easy for Feng, an affluent, superficial college student traveling abroad, to sit back and criticize the emphasis some Americans place on money and appearance. However, the materialism evident in America by no means tarnishes the values this nation stands for and defends. When people like Feng start bashing America, I think they should take the time to sit back and recognize America's emphasis on liberty and freedom. In addition, we should all recognize that these are values and ideals for which hundreds of thousands of Americans have fought and sacrificed their lives. After all, was it not these American values, what the United States stands for, that brought thousands of families, including Feng's, to this great nation? Seth Finck College '02
