According to officials at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, the victim's condition has not improved since being rushed to the hospital with massive head injuries. Yesterday, University Police officials shed more light on the events leading up to the incident. The victim, whose identity has not been released to the public, was riding west on Walnut Street at the time of the accident. As he approached 34th Street, he began to turn south and veered in front of a taxi, also traveling west on Walnut Street. Witnesses at the scene described heavy blood loss coming from the victim's head. Hospital administrators have refused to comment specifically on the nature of the man's injuries. The victim is one of several hundred older adults who attend Penn classes as part of the University's Senior Associates program, run by the College of General Studies and the Institute on Aging. -- Rod Kurtz
