Hutch re-opens for fitness ctr. members The weight room, which closed last fall when the high-tech $1.2 million Katz Fitness Center opened in Gimbel Gymnasium, will be open for fitness club members from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. weekdays, Recreation Director Mike Diorka said. According to Diorka, the facility closed to the general Penn public last September because "many people decided to utilize Katz," which offered better equipment and ventilation. Since the weight room was closed to patrons, it has been used by intramural sports clubs for physical training, Diorka said. Officials decided to reopen the weight room after receiving requests from students, faculty and staff for whom going to the Hutch weight room was more convenient than going to Gimbel, Diorka said. While the weight room used to be open to the general public, a fitness center membership is now required. -- Karlene Hanko
