Aggravated AssaultAggravated Assault· September 10 -- A man unaffiliated with the University was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest after trying to gain entry to a residence on the 4100 block of Chestnut Street. Simon Verderame, who police say was intoxicated, allegedly tried to attack the homeowner with a stick around 1:50 a.m. and then tried to fight off arresting officers. No serious injuries were reported. Between 10 p.m. on September 5 and 10 a.m. the next day, an $8,000 computer system was stolen. Police said there were signs of forced entry into the building. Though no weapon was seen, the assailant forced him into the house, where the student reported that the man took $20 in cash and fled.
