CAMPUS BRIEFS: Friday, April 23, 1999

Alcohol task force still working on final plan Still, however, the group -- composed of 14 students and seven faculty members -- has not come up with any tangible long-term recommendations. Provost Robert Barchi said he hopes the committee will present recommendations to University President Judith Rodin by the middle of next week. He added that the committee is "refining the language" for some recommendations, which will span a broad range of alcohol-related issues -- including health and safety, education, responsibility and non-alcoholic social options. Barchi said earlier last week he was hoping the committee would have reached a decision by yesterday. Committee member and Undergraduate Assembly Treasurer Michael Bassik said the committee discussed measures to combat alcohol abuse, such as limiting the amount of alcohol at parties through BYOB rules. -- Catherine Lucey
