According to Correia, a Wharton freshman, the board made the decision to cancel the event after the rest of the freshman class showed less interest than expected. "We wanted the event to reach 100 percent of the class and it looked like this wasn't going to," he said. Wharton freshman Tom Shelton, public relations officer for the board, explained that the "social climate" had changed since the board first polled the class for event ideas. College freshman Dan Rosen, the class's vice president, added that spring pledging might have hindered many students' chances to attend the event. "We found out that the Cancer Ball was being held the day before our event was scheduled to take place and a lot of Greek affiliations require their pledges to attend that," Correia explained. He added that the board is in the process of scheduling other events which will involve the entire freshman class. – Kate Khatib
