Tigers suffer a letdown

Associated Press The loss denied Princeton (8-1, 5-1 Ivy League) a chance to clinch a tie for the Ivy League championship and might have ruined the Tigers' chances of winning their first outright title since 1964. Princeton had won 10 straight over two seasons, starting the streak with a win at Yale last year. Yale beat Princeton yesterday for the first time in five games, despite a 92-yard touchdown run by Tigers quarterback Brock Harvey on the game's first play from scrimmage. It was the second-longest scoring play in Princeton's history. Yale (3-6, 2-4) trailed 13-7 with just over 8 minutes remaining. After a Princeton punt, Yale started at the 50 and took eight plays in 4:27 to reach the end zone. The drive's key play came when quarterback Chris Hetherington hit Jon Aram with a 19-yard pass to the 20, then found David Prybyla with an 11-yard completion to the 4 on third-and-5. One play later, Heffernan carried the ball in, and John Stalzer's conversion gave Yale the lead. In the third quarter, Heffernan had fumbled the ball to Princeton while trying to score from the 3-yard line. The Elis put the game away with 57 seconds remaining when Matt Siskosky recovered Harvey's fumble in the end zone. Princeton had the ball at its own 1 with 1:08 remaining after a punt, but Harvey fumbled on the first play.
