Provost reviewing plans A new plan for the Revlon Center is currently being hailed as the best possible design by administrators and student leaders alike. Acting Vice Provost for University Life Valarie Swain-Cade McCoullum said last night that The Book Store, previously slated to be a part of the campus center, will be moved to a site on 36th and Sansom streets. McCoullum said that a freestanding bookstore across from the Revlon Center would enliven the northern part of campus. "What I think one of the most exciting things [at the University] would be is the creation of a Revlon precinct," she said. Existing facilities such as Gimbel Gym, the Annenberg Center and Greenfield Intercultural Center would join the new facilities to increase the number of student services available on the northern side of campus, she added. McCoullum, Interim Provost Marvin Lazerson and members of the Undergraduate Assembly met yesterday to discuss this new plan. McCoullum said Lazerson showed UA members several different design options for the center. Among them was a plan that did not include the Black Box theater and auditorium. UA Chairperson Seth Hamalian said he and the other five UA members at the meeting all agreed that the campus center could not be built without the performing arts spaces. McCoullum said another plan included the performing arts spaces and The Book Store. However, spaces for meeting rooms, food service and other student organizations would have to be scaled down as a result. Hamalian said he supported a third plan which left the bookstore out of the center, because that plan "maintains the majority of student spaces." The plan approved by the UA also appears to be the favored plan of Lazerson. "My sense is that what we all seemed to think was the best idea
