I am writing to clarify a few points mentioned in the article concerning the new course evaluation forms developed by a subcommittee of the College Committee on Undergraduate Education (DP 2/13/92). Our major innovation has been to introduce a dual system of course evaluation forms. The new mid-semster Teaching Feedback Questionnaires will provide feedback directly to the instructor of each College course. These Teaching Feedback Questionnaires will not be seen by administrators and will not be used for any decisions concerning tenure or reappointment. Teaching evaluation for tenure and reappointment decisions will be based on the end-of-the-semester Course Evaluation Forms. A revised version of the end-of-the-semester Course Evaluation Form will be pilot-tested in a number of courses in the College, Wharton, Engineering and Nursing this spring. Anyone who has questions, comments or suggestions concerning these new procedures for course evaluation is invited to contact me through the CUE Subcommittee of Teaching Evaluation and Improvement.
