Penn men’s squash was handed its sixth loss of the season Saturday, when the Quakers lost 7-2 to a No. 2-ranked Harvard team in Cambridge, Mass.
Harvard’s last Ivy loss came one year ago this weekend when they were defeated 9-0 by Princeton.
The Quakers’ two wins came off the racquets of sophomore Thomas Mattsson and freshman Zuhaib Mohiuddin in the No. 3 and No. 7 positions, respectively.
Mohiuddin made quick work of his opponent, beating him in a speedy three-game match, while Mattsson came from behind to win in five games over Zeke Scherl.
With this win, the Crimson continue a reign of dominance over the Quakers, that has stretched over a decade.
Yesterday, the Quakers finished off their Ivy season with a 6-3 loss to No. 6 Dartmouth.
Unlike last year when the Red and Blue came back from a 4-3 deficit to win 5-4 at home, Penn was unable to overcome a strong start from the Big Green.
Dartmouth picked up momentum quickly, taking four out of the first five matches, and Penn never caught up.
Mattsson and Mohiuddin continued to be bright spots for the Quakers, with Mattsson beating his opponent in three matches, and Mohiuddin in five. Junior Porter Drake contributed his third win in four games, defeating Luke Lee.
With this loss, Penn finished their season 9-6 overall, 1-5 Ivy.
