News Brief: Local Rite Aid pharmacy robbed at gunpoint

The Rite Aid located at 4237 Walnut St. was robbed at gunpoint at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13. Nobody was hurt, but the perpetrator made away with nearly $1,200.

According to police, the robber, described as a 5-foot-7, 130-pound black male in his mid-30s, waited for a moment when there were no customers in the store. He then produced a gun and directed the store security guard and manager into the manager's office, according to University of Pennsylvania Police Department records.

Once in the manager's office, the perpetrator ordered them to deposit the money in a bag he was carrying. After he had the money, the robber fled the scene of the crime.

Rite Aid management declined to comment on the incident. As of yesterday, No arrest had been made.
