IN BRIEF: Art dealer donates sculpture to U.

Art dealer donates sculpture to U. Art dealer and collector Jeffrey Loria donated a sculpture to the University last week. The sculpture was originally loaned to the University in 1984, and has stood on 36th Street across from the Penn Hillel Foundation for almost ten years. The 14-foot sculpture, which was completed in 1963, will remain in its current location as part of the University's art collection. Loria has served as an overseer at the Graduate School of Fine Arts since 1985 and previously donated several works to the University. Loria's daughter, nephew and son-in-law are University graduates. -- Randi Feigenbaum Zion's condition improves Post-baccalaureate student Adam Zion was transferred to the the Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Center from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Victim Support and Special Services Director Maureen Rush said last week. Zion was hit by two cars as he crossed the street at 33rd and Walnut streets last month. Rush said Zion has been "responding well to treatment" and he is able to speak, eat and carry out other day-to-day activities. She added that Zion is now permitted to see small groups of visitors for short periods of time. --Keith Huebsch Prof inducted into Hall of Fame Wharton Professor George Taylor was posthumously inducted into the U.S. Labor Hall of Fame on January 5. Taylor, who died 23 years ago, was the 18th person in the country to be honored for making major contributions in the field of labor. Considered to be the "father of American arbitration," he was credited with solving over 2,000 labor-management disputes during his career. Taylor served under five presidents and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Lyndon Johnson. His work spanned many industries, including clothing, autos, construction, railroads, steel and copper. -- Amy Lipman
