The transition to sales after professional basketball is only natural, according to former Penn men’s basketball player Andreas Schreiber, that is. Graduating from Penn in 2011 with a degree in environmental science, business was a completely foreign idea to him. 

Orie’s path to competing at Penn was atypical. The Buffalo, N.Y. native grew up as a multi-sport athlete, sampling nearly every sport that she could. Even when it came time to specialize in sports early in high school, running hadn’t crossed Orie’s mind yet.

Penn did not compete in the 2020-2021 season due to COVID-19. But with March Madness in full swing this week, we explore some of Penn’s best runs in the NCAA Tournament.

After it was canceled a year ago due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will return this year on March 19. Unfortunately for the Ivy League, there will not be any teams from the Ancient Eight participating in this year’s tournament after the league canceled the winter season. However, there will be a handful of graduate transfers from the Ivy League who will still look to make an impact in March Madness. 

Since the 1949-50 season, the Quakers have winning records against six of the seven other Ivy League teams, with the disparities being fairly lopsided. Below is a breakdown of Penn’s all-time matchups with each of the other Ivy League schools, ranked from highest winning percentage for Penn to lowest.

Prior to the Ivy League's announcement granting senior student-athletes graduate eligibility, many Penn athletes solidified transfer plans, in hopes of finishing their careers in action rather than on a practice field. The Daily Pennsylvanian checked in with four former Quakers at their new schools.

Building on the momentum from the previous year, coach Fran Dunphy led the victorious Penn Quakers to a 14-0 sweep of the Ivy League and an overall record of 21-8 in the NCAA in the 1999-2000 season. 

This year's Quakers won't have an opportunity to rise up through the record books until next season. Today, we take a look back at the top five scorers in Penn women's basketball history.

Growing up in Croatia, Curnic found a love for tennis at the age of five. Despite the strong competition, she performed well in all of her tournaments and started to take tennis more seriously when she was 11, playing for the Croatian national team. Eventually, she found herself on a much larger stage, competing in tournaments across Europe at the age of 15. 

Although Vogel was not able to finish her collegiate career on the field with the Quakers, she has still been able to make her mark on the team even during the virtual season. Vogel was named co-captain this past fall, and has worked to keep the team connected and motivated despite the lost season. 

Ed Stefanski played for Penn men’s basketball from 1973 to 1976 in a mostly supplemental role under legendary coaches Rollie Massimino and Chuck Daly. In 1999, Stefanski fully invested his professional life into basketball, accepting a scouting job with the New Jersey Nets. He has since ascended to the role he holds today, Senior Advisor of Basketball Operations with the Detroit Pistons.
