After it was canceled a year ago due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will return this year on March 19. In a normal year, highly sought-after high school recruits have numerous opportunities to consider their options. They can go on official school visits, speak in-person with coaches and other players, and truly get a feel for the athletic programs. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the operation of athletics, it has been hard for high school recruits to get a feel for their prospective schools.

Title IX, a federal civil rights law passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972, was enacted June 23, 1972 and its interpretation was published in June, 1974. It was designed to prevent discrimination based on sex in educational programs or activities, including athletics.
