This year, 53 students of American Indian descent were accepted to Penn, as opposed to 19 last year, according to Six Directions Co-President and College junior Megan Red Shirt-Shaw.


Step Show wraps up first MGC Week

The Step Show, which is the biggest of its kind on the East Coast, marked the end of the first-annual Multicultural Greek Council Week — a showcase of academic, cultural, social and philanthropic events put on by Penn’s historically black, Latino and Asian-American fraternities and sororities.



College Green sleep out raises malaria awareness

The event consisted of students signing a petition to end malaria, listening to music and speakers, and screening the documentary 'When the Night Comes,' all followed by attendees sleeping out on College Green. It was held in honor of World Malaria Day on Sunday.

Following a vote Thursday night by the Panhellenic Council extension committee, a new chapter will join campus as early as next year as Penn's ninth sorority.





Journal showcases international relations students' research

The launch, which took place at Irvine Auditorium Thursday afternoon, was the first time the International Relations Program officially celebrated the publication of the Sigma Iota Rho Journal, which features an essay from Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Jeremy Brochin has been at Hillel for 36 years, and in that time, the school has seen various changes in the Jewish community, including the opening of Steinhardt Hall as Penn Hillel in 2003.
