In an effort to bring low-income students to selective universities like Penn, the QuestBridge National College Match program is helping 260 of the nation's brightest high school seniors pay for their college education. QuestBridge awards match scholars a full, four-year scholarship to any of their 26 partner schools.

Philip Florio is the Newman Center's new chaplain-director. He is the first Jesuit to hold the position, according to the Penn Almanac. Florio, who started in the position Jan. 15, succeeded Charles Zlock for the position. As chaplain-director, Florio will also serve as an assistant pastor at Saints Agatha and James Church on 38th and Chestnut streets.

Remember back to the days when you were a kid and your neighbor was always getting the latest and greatest toys. He got the Sega and then the PlayStation and then GameCube. And you still had that original SuperNintendo that's been around forever. Sure, it's a classic, but c'mon, who doesn't want a controller that vibrates in their hands? Well, the Ivy League has been like that deprived child for years.

With no new business at its second meeting of the semester, the Undergraduate Assembly held a check-in with committee heads to settle affairs before the semester becomes too hectic. College Sophomore and UA Representative Grant Dubler did, however, bring up a timely housing issue, since deadlines for on-campus housing applications have begun to loom.

Any team looking to get an Ivy League Championship this year has to go through one major obstacle to get there - a Big Red obstacle. After running the table in the Ivies last year, Cornell returns to defend its title with four starters and seven of its top eight scorers back.

Once again, Penn sorority girls have new big sisters. On Sunday, the 108th Panhellenic Council officially passed the reins onto a new group of women in an "emotional" ceremony known as the Circle of Sisters. Meyerson Hall came to life as hundreds of new sorority members cheered in support of the recently-elected Panhel board.

Somewhere between The Canterbury Tales and The Merchant of Venice in Van Pelt Library, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck are making an appearance in comic book form. Mickey and Donald were featured in some of 1975 alumnus Steve Rothman's favorite comics when he was growing up and make up some of the 22,000 comic books and graphic novels he donated to Van Pelt's Special Collections Library.

Say what you want about Tommy Amaker. Just don't say he doesn't win. In just its second year under Amaker, the historically derelict Harvard appears to be reviving. The Crimson (9-7, 1-1 Ivy) put up a better-than-expected performance in Ivy League play last year, and started the 2008-09 season with a head-turning non-conference performance.

Change is the hot word nowadays. But what about fairness? In a mad rush to dole out carrots, it's easy to forget the importance of the stick. That's why I'm not sure conference tournaments are such a good idea - in any sport, in any league, including Ivy League lacrosse, one of the conference's shining beacons of success amid a sea of backsliding mediocrity.

Study-abroad choice punishes To the Editor: As a University alumnus and the parent of two University of Pennsylvania graduates who benefitted from study abroad during their time at Penn, it is distressing to read that the University was among a small handful of schools that have suspended their study abroad programs in Israel.

The last time Carrie Biemer scored fewer than 10 points in a game was Jan. 15, 2008, in a 67-50 loss at Seton Hall. As fate would have it, Biemer's 27-game double-digit scoring streak was snapped yesterday by that same Seton Hall squad, as the senior captain was held to nine points and zero rebounds.

Depending on how far one can stretch the transitive property, Dartmouth could very well stake a de facto claim to the nation's top spot. The perennial Ivy League bottom-feeder turned heads in the Ivy League this Saturday by making neat work of Harvard in overtime, putting away the Crimson by a decisive 75-66 score in Boston.

College junior Alexandra Berger has a vision. Elected chairwoman of the Student Committee on Undergraduate Education on Sunday night, Berger's goals for the year include developing the group's relationship with the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships and continuing SCUE's efforts to promote non-traditional learning and improve online tools like the Penn Course Review and Penn InTouch.

Despite the economic downturn, some people still see hope. Marc Lasry, the Chairman, CEO and a founding partner of Avenue Capital Group, spoke at Claudia Cohen Hall last night about surviving in today's volatile financial market. According to Forbes, Lasry is one of the 400 richest Americans and a pioneer in the field of distressed investing - buying securities of firms near bankruptcy, reorganizing the firms and reselling them for higher prices.
