Consider our bracket alive — but just barely so. DPOSTM lost three of its Final Four teams — two in the Elite Eight, another in the Sweet Sixteen — but is still clinging onto its championship prediction of Florida. Let’s take a look back at last week’s craziness and look forward to the culmination of it all.

Senior forward Fran Dougherty has been in a Penn uniform for a while, but Fox Sports 1 thought he was older ... a LOT older ... during its broadcast of Penn-Villanova on Wednesday.

Penn men's soccer currently finds itself tied for first in the Ivy League. Which player or group needs to step up the most if the Quakers are going to win the Ancient Eight?

Regulars of Smoke's will notice that, lately, the crowd has started to skew a little...young. Seniors everywhere have noticed (and complained about!) this affront to their very seniority. Some particularly cranky 2011'ers are trying to reclaim their right to sentimentality the old fashioned way: with a petition! The manifesto/reasoning is below:
"SENIORS --- let us reclaim what is rightfully ours.
In these last precious days of our undergraduate life, let us join together to protect our bar, Smokey Joe's, from the distraction of underclassmen.
For decades, Smoke's has been a gathering place for the senior class. Its photograph-covered walls, wood panels, stained glass and red leather booths are the backdrop of many of our most cherished memories. But gone are the fall nights when the Smoke's scene looked like the member pages of our 2011 "just admitted, now let's stalk each other" Facebook group; for whatever reason, there's been an unmistakable and undesirable influx of juniors, sophomores and freshman to our beloved watering hole. They're young, they're annoying, and they make ordering drinks, walking with pitchers and sitting in booths treacherous activities. Most of all, they just don't belong.
So, for the love of Kweder, Yuengling and bartenders in ties: SIGN THIS PETITION TO ASK MR. RYAN TO REQUIRE 2011 PENNCARDS FOR ADMISSION TO SMOKE'S ONCE FINALS ARE OVER UNTIL OUR COMMENCEMENT, May 10th through May 16th.
Let's take back the bar."
Shyikes! How strongly worded! Of note: won't the student population be mostly seniors during senior week anyway? And why is this categorized as an "education" petition? We'll be interested to see how this plays out. The petition (which, at press time, boasted a whopping 6 signatures) is available for viewing/signing here.

Looks like a good study break to us! This is part of PIFA's today-only street fair, so make the most of the waning daylight and try to make it down there before everything closes up shop at 8:30 tonight.

Reading days have just kicked off, and whether you're pulling an all nighter or engaging in some post-formal boozing, it is altogether possible that you will be awake at 6 am on Friday. If you are, tune into CBS 3's local coverage of the event - Annenberg visiting professor Rosalind Coward will be offering her scholarly insights, and certainly seems qualified to do so. She's published an authoritative biography of Princess Diana, and has plenty of speculation to offer about any potential royal brouhaha. Even though she says it's a good thing that both Prince William and Kate Middleton have had a chance to develop separately and work on their own careers ("That augurs well"), she makes sure to point out that the necessity of bodyguards, all the time, everywhere, could become problematic. Buckle up everyone, this is going to be wild!

FALSE ALARM: Childers Is Just Taking A Semester Off - To those of you bemoaning the fact that you'd never get to take a class with beloved History department powerhouse Thomas Childers: weep no more! Rumors that he was to retire at the end of this semester have been declared false by the man himself. He debunked these claims while talking with a few students after his final lecture, and plans to just take next semester off. Worry not: he'll be back in action at Penn for the Spring 2012 semester.

Hey Day is almost upon us, and with it comes the Final Toast. Instead of triumphantly parading down Locust, seniors will have the advantage of looking on from the Green while luxuriating in a bunch of free swag. After you sign this pledge to not engage in hazing and other bad behaviors (seriously, do it), you'll have access to a smorgasbord of food and drink. Food trucks are going to be posted up all over the place, so save room for free food from Magic Carpet, Guapos Tacos, and Sugar Philly - also, there will be free beer.

If you originally envisioned Spring Fling as being the collegiate version of Burning Man, you may be in for a disappointment this weekend. Worry not, though! If petting zoos and carnivals and concerts aren't your thing, you'll still be able to make this year's Fling an experience to remember. Fox Leadership describes Alternate Spring Fling as "the fling for dreamers, unconventional thinkers, and philosophers. Aiming to bring more meaningful and conscious interactions into Fling, ASF hopes to allow us to connect at deeper levels with our fellow students." So if that sounds more your speed than jello shots and moonbounces (bad combo), take a peek at the schedule below and plan accordingly:

Salad and frozen yogurt spot Sweetgreen has officially opened for business. After a week of soft-open salad giveaways, the Radian-located, plywood encased space offers a lighter alternative to the other spots on that stretch of Walnut - when a burrito or burger feels like too much, it'll be nice to have another option within spitting distance (that isn't Philly Diner). If you didn't make it over for the soft-open giveaway, swing by any time - their regular hours (not listed on their website yet) are now in effect.

If you have strong opinions about things like graduation speaker selection, university budgets, or academic policy, the most effective way of getting your voice heard would probably be joining up with the University-Wide Committees. Perks of serving on these committees include interacting with trustees and a relative degree of power. Applications are due by 11:59 PM on Monday, April 11th (tomorrow!), so scurry on over to the application here and voice some opinions already.

Ready Your Fashions - Street-style photographer the Sartorialist is apparently planning to bring his camera to Philadelphia. He made a sorta off-the-cuff post earlier this week, and the response in the comments has been overwhelmingly in favor of him paying a visit to lil' old West Philly. Look sharp in the days ahead - you never know when some dude with a camera will ask to snap a shot of your stylish ensemble.

Penn Med student Tim Soo has combined a few of our favorite things: Wiimotes, iPhones, and Bruno Mars (psych on that last one). With his new Invisible Instrument app, Soo has created an awesome way to simulate a whole range of musical instruments, from drums to the violin to a guitar. Soo says he came up with the idea when he was short a violin for a performance in a music theory class, and from there, "the concept took hold." There's also a Kickstarter page for the project, so if you'd like to see this app become a full fledged reality, that's at least one way to help out.

Tomorrow night from 6 to 9 PM, student group Abuse and Sexual Assault Prevention (ASAP) will be holding its annual Take Back the Night peaceful protest to raise campus awareness of sexual assault and and violence. The event kicks off with a rally on College Green at 6 PM, and is followed by a march at 6:45 and a candlelight vigil at 7:30. The vigil will also play host to a "Survivor Speakout," which gives victims of sexual violence a chance to share their stories and experiences. Head over when you can to show your support.

After a week of voting, self-promoting, and slogan-toting, the ballots have been counted and the winners confirmed. That's right: the incoming UA and class boards have officially been elected. Take a look at the winners below, even if you voted for "the other guy."

There are a few constants in this world: Death. Taxes. The earth continuing to orbit the sun. And of course, student government candidates making promotional videos. This year's crop has a distinctly musical bent, making the already strong case against autotune even stronger. Behold - 2011's most meme-friendly requests for your vote! We've got our ratings/"endorsements" after the jump.

Spotted at 34th and Walnut: A blimp. Or a dirigible. Or a zeppelin? Or an alien spacecraft. The point is, it's some kind of balloon, and we have no idea what it's doing there. Our current best guess is that it's in transit to or from an engineering building. If you can shed light on what exactly is happening here, please do so in the comments or drop us a line at tips@underthebutton.com.
