Penn announced that normal University operations will reopen Thursday morning at 10 a.m. following the suspension of normal operations Wednesday due to the fourth Nor'easter of the month.
"Essential University staff and all Health System physicians and staff are required to report to work at their regularly scheduled start time," UPenn Alert said. "Please exercise caution and take your time in traveling to campus."
The Philadelphia School District announced earlier Wednesday that it would delay its opening by two hours.
The snow began falling Tuesday, the official first day of spring, and accumulated throughout the day Wednesday into the evening. Forecasters indicated that the heaviest snow began to taper off at 8 p.m. and will stop entirely in the early hours of Thursday morning, likely leaving behind between six and 12 inches of snow.
In response, many offices, schools, and businesses were forced to close.
Drexel University, Temple University, Lehigh University, and Villanova University suspended normal operations on Wednesday. The Philadelphia School District also shut down for the day.
Various businesses on campus like Metropolitan Bakery closed for the day, while some like the CVS at 3401 Walnut St. closed early in light of the weather.
