It appears that pennies can be more dangerous than they seem.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, a GoFundMe page has been set up to repair Benjamin Franklin's gravestone at the Christ Church Burial Ground across from Independence Mall.
Ben Franklin was always fond of the saying, "a penny saved, is a penny earned,” and visitors pay tribute to the phrase by tossing pennies onto his gravestone. The annual tens of thousands of pennies have caused a large crack to form on top of the marble, The Christ Church Preservation Trust told the Inquirer. The Trust hopes to raise $10,000 from the GoFundMe page, on top of the $66,000 that the foundation has already raised.
Maybe the pennies on top of the stone can be collected and added to the fund…
