Nearly 25 percent of students that enroll in public and private universities think that there is a high likelihood of transfer, according to the annual Freshman Survey published by the Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA.
More students than ever plan to transfer before even enrolling in universities in order to protect their long-term finances. The most common transfer path involves students first attending two-year community colleges before transferring to traditional universities.
While it can be difficult for students to transfer credits from one institution to another, universities are making it easier and easier for students to transfer. Students coming from other community colleges and other universities are being seen as prime candidates to fill empty seats, contributing to the rise of transfer applications nation-wide.
