In response to an article in The Daily Pennsylvanian last week, I thought you might be interested to know that Penn’s connection with education in Kazakhstan goes even further.

One of the projects at Nazarbayev University is to establish Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools all over the country. These are top quality secondary schools where myself and four other Penn GSE graduates currently work. We were hired in 2011 and were in the first wave of international teachers brought in for this project. It is an ambitious one for sure, and we feel that these schools, along with the university, play a crucial role in Kazakhstan’s future.

Lauren Gutstein is a 2010 College graduate and a 2011 Graduate School of Education graduate. Her email is lmgutstein@gmail.com.
