Domenique Wilson, the suspect in the home invasion and sexual assault at 44th and Spruce streets last December, allegedly attempted to break out of prison in February.
On Feb. 20, the 23-year-old tried to escape from his segregation cell at the Clinton County Correctional Facility, according to Warden Tom Duran.
An officer who was making a regular round noticed that Wilson had removed the caulking from the cell window.
The window, however, was only three or four inches wide, according to Duran. "What he was going to do with that, we don't know," he said.
Wilson was not able to leave the premises, but he will be charged with attempted escape.
Although attempted escapes do happen at the correctional facility, they are highly irregular, Duran said.
Six years ago, an inmate from North Carolina was able to break out but was apprehended 45 minutes later.
Wilson already faces 36 criminal counts, including 12 related to an incident in which he allegedly held three Lock Haven University students with a knife against their will and sexually assaulted two of them.
"If he's found not guilty of those charges, he still faces [the charge of] attempted escape," Duran said.
Wilson is scheduled for arraignment on April 27 and will enter a plea at that time, according to the Clinton County District Attorney's Office.
