Vice President Joe Biden, several major members of President Barack Obama's cabinet and city and state officials will gather in Irvine Auditorium tomorrow for the first official meeting of the Middle Class Task Force.
The meeting, which begins at 12:30 p.m., is not open to the public. However, some student groups, including the Undergraduate Assembly, UA Steering and the Penn Democrats, have received a small number of tickets to the event.
Seven Penn Dems members will drive in Biden's motorcade, and other members of the organization will volunteer at the event, according to Penn Dems President Jordan Levine, a College sophomore and former Daily Pennsylvanian advertising representative.
Biden's task force - which aims to "raise the living standards of middle-class, working families," according to its Web site - includes cabinet members such as Energy secretary Steven Chu, Transportation secretary Ray LaHood, Education secretary Arne Duncan and Agriculture secretary Thomas Vilsack.
Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and Pennsylvania Sens. Arlen Specter and Bob Casey will also be in attendance.
