Two separate violent incidents involving weapons were reported last week near Penn.

On Friday night, a 50-year-old man reported that a security guard denied him access to a building at 43rd and Walnut streets, Detective Swann of the Philadelphia Police said.

The guard, a black male between the ages of 40 and 45, reportedly grabbed the man around the neck, scratching him, and displayed a handgun, Swann said.

She did not specify the affiliation of the security guard. No arrests were made.

A man was reportedly robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday on the 4300 block of Delancey Street.

Two black men approached the complainant, a 22-year-old man unaffiliated with the University, according to Penn and Philadelphia officials.

They took the man's wallet and cell phone and fled the scene in a vehicle, Division of Public Safety spokesman Jared Hupp said.

The robbery took place at about 1:15 a.m., Penn and Philadelphia Police officials said.

No arrests were made and no injuries were reported, Swann said.
