The first serve of the volleyball season for Penn is set for 7:30 tonight as the Quakers take on Seton Hall in the first matchup of the Seton Hall tournament.
The Red and Blue will also face Stony Brook and Fairfield during the two-day event.
Seton Hall enters the tournament as the strongest competitor, with a 4-3 record on the season. But the weekend will really just be a way for the Quakers ease into the season.
Penn returns six starters from last season. Its roster is stacked with veteran talent, as well as newcomers that coach Kerry Carr expects to see some time on the court.
Freshman Julia Swanson was a member of the US national team and Madison Wojciechowski could step in and fill the libero job that is up for the taking.
Senior Laura Black brings versitility to the hitter position and senior Linda Zhang has been the team's leading setter.
The Quakers will get deep into their season before tackling their Ivy slate. Penn will play eight non-conference matches after this weekend before meeting Princeton on Sept. 29 for the Red and Blue's first Ancient Eight contest.
