Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, who represented Pennsylvania in the Senate for 12 years, has joined the national law firm of Eckert, Seamans, Cherin & Mellott after failing to secure a third term in office in November.
According to a press release, Santorum will provide business and strategic counseling services in the firm's Washington, D.C., office.
"We are extremely pleased that Rick is joining our firm and that our clients will have the benefit of his understanding of what it takes for businesses to succeed in today's global economy," Eckert Seamans's CEO Tim Ryan said in the press release.
Highly controversial in his 12 years in the Senate, Santorum overwhelmingly lost his bid for re-election to former state treasurer Bob Casey, the Democratic challenger.
Before losing the election, Santorum had been considered a top contender for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination.
In his post-Senate career, Santorum will also serve as a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C., and as a contributor to Fox News Channel.
