News Brief: Wharton receives $1M for fellowship support

Wharton alumnus John Patience has donated $1 million to the Wharton School, Wharton officials announced yesterday.

The money will be used to establish the John Patience Endowed Fellowship Fund.

The Fund - which will exist in perpetuity - will be given to one MBA student every year and will provide financial aid for that student.

"My Wharton education changed my life," Patience said in a press statement. "It provided me with the skills I needed for a successful career in consulting and then private equity. I am delighted to be able to provide a similar opportunity to future MBA students," he said.

Patience, who earned an MBA in finance from Wharton in 1973, is currently co-founder and general partner at Crabtree Partner LLC, which is located in Lake Forest, Ill.

"We are delighted to have John's name on this Wharton fellowship," Wharton Dean Patrick Harker said in the same press statement. "His generosity in supporting deserving MBA students will inspire others to follow his example."
