Somebody's going to set a record this weekend, and it ain't gonna be Penn.
With the Quakers getting their third straight overtime loss last week, that weight is lifted from their shoulders. The one making the history this week will be Harvard running back Clifton Dawson.
As you probably already know, Dawson is just 53 yards away from the career Ivy rushing mark, and looks to break the record in the confines of Franklin Field tomorrow. But if he holds true to the surname he owns, he may break a few hearts along the way.
Most people think of "Dawson" not as an all-time great in the Ancient Eight, but rather as the guy who owns the famous creek on the WB and got to do it with Katie Holmes.
It was obvious, then, who we had to call to get this week's prediction: The man who played Dawson, James Van Der Beek.
So after some Internet sleuthing and a bit of swooning over the 20-something heartthrob, we couldn't find the actor, but we found someone with the same name.
Our Mr. Van Der Beek, who sounded every bit as dreamy as Dawson Leery, may be a few decades past his angst-ridden teenage years, and would probably need a little help from a blue pill to canoodle with Katie nowadays, but he is in his element as a Prognostiquaker:
"Pennsylvania's gonna win easy, 34-20," he said.
So while Dawson may cast Ed Marinaro's record aside like a cheating girlfriend, this is the week the Quakers right the ship.
But still up for debate is the more impressive Dawson feat: the career rushing record, or nailing the latter half of TomKat.
