Week of affordable dining in Center City
This fall's Center City Restaurant Week began yesterday, but hurry to make your reservations - it only runs through Friday.
The event, which occurs annually, allows patrons to dine for $30 at some of the city's most expensive restaurants.
Sponsored by the Center City District, a group dedicated to the improvement of that area of the city, Restaurant Week asks that participating venues offer at least three courses for the fixed price, which does not include beverages, tax or gratuity fees.
Not all establishments offer their complete menus,.
Reservations can be made at Opentable.com or by calling individual establishments.
However, some of the city's more popular restaurants fill their tables weeks before the event begins.
Evelyn Salcedo, a server and hostess at Mandoline - a contemporary American restaurant in Old City - said desirable time slots for Restaurant Week filled up a month ago.
She added that at Mandoline, tables are currently available for only Monday and Tuesday nights, while Thursday and Friday are all booked up.
The event recurs in the spring.
