Thanks to a sweep of the doubles point and opening wins at the 2 and 6 singles spots, the No. 45 Quakers took a 3-0 lead over No. 30 Tennessee and never looked back, going on to a 4-2 win. Penn won 8-4, 8-3 and then 8-0 in doubles, and after a win by default in the 6-spot, Julia Koulbitskaya easily disposed of Lady Vols' Victoria Jones in the 2-spot, and Caroline Stanislawski grinded out a 3-set win in the 5-spot to seal the deal for the Quakers. The Red and Blue will go up against No. 6 Georgia Tech in the second round on Saturday.
