Penn's search for a new men's basketball coach is over, and Glen Miller of Brown is the man chosen to replace Fran Dunphy, the Penn athletic department has confirmed.
Miller had been considered the front-runner early in the coaching search, but more recently had seemed to fall behind Lehigh's Billy Taylor. Cornell's Steve Donahue was also considered one of the top candidates.
Miller will be introduced as coach at a press conference tomorrow at the Palestra, bringing to a formal conclusion the 16-day search.
Miller, a 1986 graduate of Connecticut and former assistant to Huskies coach Jim Calhoun, has won 93 games in seven seasons with Brown. He led the Bears to second place finishes in the Ivy League in 2003 and 2004 as well as the National Invitation Tournament in 2003. At Brown, Miller assembled competitive squads which included 2004 Ivy League Player of the Year Jason Forte and four-time All-Ivy selection Earl Hunt. Miller guided Brown to a 54-44 record in Ancient Eight play. Previously, Miller led Division-III Connecticut College to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments, including a 28-1 record in 1999, after inheriting a team that went 6-18 in his first season.
