- Jan. 25 -- A Penn alumna was walking on the 4200 block of Osage Avenue at 6 p.m. when two men grabbed her purse and ran.

The thieves are described as being in their mid-20s. The first is reportedly between five feet six and five feet seven inches in height, clean-shaven and wearing a black puffy coat, dark gray knit cap and dark-colored pants.

The victim described the other man as slim, approximately five feet seven to five feet 10 inches in height, with a light complexion and a thin beard, wearing a black jacket and jeans.

- Jan. 24 -- A 20-year-old female student reported that her purse, containing $50, various identification cards, a cell phone and iPod was taken while she was shopping in Fresh Grocer. The items, worth approximately $520, were taken while the student looked away from her shopping cart.

- Jan. 23 -- Sometime between 6:30 and 11 p.m. on Jan. 12, a Sony laptop, iPod, Bose CD player and numerous CDs were taken from a second-floor apartment at 4141 Spruce St. There were no signs of forced entry.

Penn Police detectives surveyed the scene and recovered fingerprints, which were submitted to the Philadelphia Police Department for examination.

Last Tuesday, a suspect was determined as a result of the fingerprints taken from the apartment. An arrest warrant was secured and Jose Torres, age 22, was arrested on the 300 block of South 42nd Street on Friday. The man will be charged with two counts of burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property. Penn Police Deputy Chief of Investigations Mike Morrin said that police are investigating whether this individual could be responsible for other similar crimes in the area.

- Jan. 23 -- An 18-year-old female Drexel student reported that her purse, which contained $12 and personal papers, was snatched while she was walking near 3925 Walnut St. The student was approached by a man from behind at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 21. She described him as being six feet tall, 150 pounds and wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. The student was not injured.
