Volleyball's Thomason co-player of week
Senior Cara Thomason was named Ivy League co-Player of the Week yesterday, along with Yale's Shannon Farrell.
The Penn volleyball team shocked Cornell Friday, which was 12-0 in Ivy League play to that point, and then dismantled Columbia Saturday to complete a weekend sweep.
Thomason averaged averaged 17 kills and 23 digs per match on the weekend, and won the award for the second time in her career.
She also won in October 2004.

Five Quakers named to All-Ivy soccer teams
After a disappointing conclusion to its season, no members of the Penn men's soccer team were named to the All-Ivy First Team.
However, two players were named to the Second Team and three more were given Honorable Mention.
Senior midfielder John Rhodes and sophomore midfielder Derek Hobson were Penn's representatives on the second team.
Another senior midfielder, Jon Abelson, led the Quakers contingent on the honorable mention squad, and was joined by sophomore defender Keith Vereb and freshman forward Mike Klein.
Harvard's Charles Altcheck, who led the Ivy League in shots, points and goals, was named the Ivy League Player of the Year.

Best all-CSFL showing for Sprint since 2000
Six players on the Penn sprint football team were named to the All-Collegiate Sprint Football League First Team yesterday.
Seniors Ben Drane, -- who earned his fourth All-CSFL selection -- Nick Kopec, Scott Pickett, Kevin Piro and Peter Stine as well as junior David Lopez received First-Team honors.
Seniors Corey Higa and Duncan Pelly and junior J.T. Hutchinson were named to the Second Team.
Ten Penn players were given Honorable Mentions, bringing the Quakers' total of All-CSFL players to 20.
This was the best showing for the Red and Blue since it had 29 players honored following the 2000 season.
Penn finished 3-3 on the year.
