Princeton looks to remain lone unbeaten Ivy

Tigers face Colgate; Harvard looks to run league record to 2-0

Three weeks in the books and only one Ivy League team remains undefeated.

It's not Penn, the team with the experienced quarterback and explosive front seven.

It's not Brown, the team with Nick Hartigan and a boatload of returning players.

It's not even Harvard, the team with the No. 20 ranking and arguably the best player in the conference.

Actually it's Princeton, the team with the easy schedule.

Colgate (2-2) at Princeton (3-0)

The Tigers defeated Lafayette and San Diego by a combined five points before last week's 43-3 thrashing of Columbia.

Now Princeton looks to stay perfect heading into consecutive road games against Brown and Harvard.

But Colgate, which is playing its own version of an Ivy League schedule, has other ideas.

Last week, the Raiders evened their record against the Ancient Eight at 1-1 by pulling away from Cornell in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers have not trailed at any point of their three games this season and may need another fast start to reach 4-0 for the first time in a decade.

Harvard (2-1, 1-0) at Cornell (1-2, 0-1)

Cornell has not yet played a game decided by 14 or fewer points and tomorrow may be no different.

The Crimson, ranked 20th in the nation, comes in with a high-powered offense but with a defense that is statistically among the worst in the country. Only 13 teams in Division I-AA have given up more than the 35 points per game that Harvard has allowed.

However, Cornell's inept passing game -- which has contributed no touchdowns and five interceptions -- will be hard-pressed to keep up with Harvard's offense. The Crimson ranks eighth nationally in total yards per game and third in first downs per game.

The numbers add up to a high-scoring affair, where even at Schoellkopf Field, the Crimson appears to have the big edge.

Dartmouth (1-2, 0-1) at Yale (1-2, 1-0)

Dartmouth showed a lot of things during its game against Penn last week -- none very encouraging.

The Big Green demonstrated woeful deficiencies in the running game, pass protection and the field goal and extra point unit.

A series of three-and-outs sent senior quarterback Charlie Rittgers to the bench in favor of rookie Josh Cohen.

With neither quarterback standing out and no running game to speak of, Dartmouth will have a very hard time winning at the Yale Bowl.

But with the youth and inconsistency the Elis have shown in the first three games, don't count anybody out.

Columbia (2-1) at Lafayette (4-1)

Don't let the records fool you. This one could be a runaway.

Columbia takes its zero rushing touchdowns to Easton, Pa., to face the Leopards, who have given up just a shade over 12 points per game.

While none of their wins was particularly impressive, the Leopards did put up a fight in their lone loss to Princeton, while Columbia fell to the Tigers by 40 last week.

With the way Columbia's offense and Lafayette's defense have been playing, don't be surprised to see a big round number on the Lions' side of the scoreboard.

Fordham (0-4) at Brown (2-1)

Brown just put up 45 on Rhode Island, who was ranked at one point this season.

Fordham got blown out by Duquesne.

Not much more to say about this one.
