One-loss teams try to stay in league race

Scoreboard watching doesn't get you very far in football.

For one week, Yale fans and Princeton fans will become Brown fans as the Bears try to stop the Ivy League's only undefeated team.

But the 2-1 Elis and the 2-1 Tigers still have to win their games tomorrow. And even against teams from the bottom half of the league, this might not be so easy.

Cornell (3-3, 1-2) at Princeton (4-2, 2-1)

Even with a relatively weak passing attack, the Big Red has to be considered a threat to take out the Tigers -- especially if they're looking ahead to next week's matchup with Penn.

The reason: Luke Siwula.

Whereas in the beginning of the year, quarterback Ryan Kuhn was much of the Big Red running game, Siwula has emerged with two 160-yard games in the last four games.

Last week in a loss to Brown, Siwula and Kuhn combined for 305 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are fresh off allowing 203 yards on the ground to Harvard's Clifton Dawson, and if those trends keep up, an upset is not out of the question.

Yale (2-4, 2-1) at Columbia (2-4, 0-3)

Even against the lowly Lions, Yale will have to put up a better effort than it did last week at Franklin Field.

Yale put up 16 yards of offense in the first three quarters before Penn put in its reserves last week.

The Lions have put together the combination of the worst defense in the league, at 379.8 yards per game, with the worst offense in the league at 245.2 yards per game.

Still, if Columbia can limit the mistakes, the Elis are beatable.

Just ask anyone who was at Franklin Field last week.

Dartmouth (2-4, 1-2) at Harvard (3-3, 1-2)

For Dartmouth, it was supposed to be the beginning of a new era.

For Harvard, it was supposed to be the continuation of a great era.

And for both, it was a 1-2 start.
