Five Quakers garner All-Ivy tennis honors

Sophomore Mikhail Bekker was a unanimous selection to the All-Ivy first team after a 6-1 Ivy League singles record. The honor comes a year after Bekker was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year, the first time a Penn player had ever won an individual men's tennis award since they were first given out in 1988.

Senior David Lynn received second-team All-Ivy honors after playing in the No. 1 and 2 spots this season.

On the women's side, freshman Yulia Rivelis was named to the first team in singles, while senior Shelah Chao and freshman Julia Koulbitskaya were named to the first team in doubles.

Softball lands six on 2005 All-Ivy squads

Second baseman Annie Kinsey and designated player Stephanie Reichert were first and second on the Quakers in batting average, hits, slugging percentage and doubles, and both were named first-team All-Ivy this year.

The sophomore Reichert was second on the squad with a .337 average and scored a team-high 17 runs.

Pitcher Ann Ferracane made the second team after going 7-7 with a 2.71 ERA, accounting for half of Penn's wins in a 14-25 year.

Spofford leads Lax All-Ivy honorees

After starting every game of her collegiate career and having a stellar season for the Quakers, midfielder Katie Spofford was rewarded with her first All-Ivy selection -- a first-team spot.

Spofford scored 21 goals in 15 games for Penn, which finished the season 8-7 and ranked 20th in the nation.

Sophomore defender Sarah Eastburn made the second team, while attacker Emily Cochran -- who led the team in goals scored -- and defender Kate Parker earned honorable mention nods.

The men's lacrosse team placed nobody on the first or second teams but did land two on the honorable mention list.

Midfielder D.J. Andrzejewski earned an honorable mention for the second consecutive year after leading the team in goals and assists. Defender Andrew Blechman joined Andrzejewski on the list and was named the team's Most Outstanding Player.
