Softball pair earns weekly Ivy honors

Sophomore designated hitter Stephanie Reichert of the Penn softball team was named Ivy League Player of the Week for her dominating performance against Rider last weekend.

The team's batting leader went 6-for-8 against the Broncs in the two games and also hit her first career home run -- a grand slam, no less -- in the first game.

She was joined by teammate Ann Ferracane in the Ivy League's weekly honor roll. The Cohoes, N.Y., native took home the award for Rookie of the Week.

Ferracane gave up three hits in game two and finished with a complete-game victory -- her second of the young season.

She also got the save in Penn's 7-5 victory in the first game.

The Quakers will return to the field at Lafayette today.
