Penn fencing placed 10 athletes on the 2005 All-Ivy squads, including two on the first teams.
Women's team sophomores Annika Eiremo and Katelyn Sherry were named first-team All-Ivy in the foil. Eiremo was named to the first team last year as well, while Sherry made the leap from the second team to the first.
Eiremo, who hails from Carmichael, Calif., went 13-2 in Ivy competition this season and was 25-2 overall. Her career record is 77-4 overall and 22-2 in the Ancient Eight.
Sherry, of Mendham, N.J., was 50-9 overall and 12-3 in the Ivy League.
The other eight Quakers who were honored were all on the second team.
Sophomores Holly Buechel and Cassandra Frey made it in epee for the women.
Buechel, a native of South Orange, N.J., made the first team last season, and compiled a 50-10 record overall, with a 10-5 Ivy League mark.
On the men's side, senior Stephen Gavalas, sophomore Michael Galligan and freshman Ron Berkowsky were honored in the foil; sophomore Jon Gale and freshman Noah Rohrer were named All-Ivy in the epee; and freshman Zachary Yeates competed in the sabre.
Of the six men, Galligan was on the second team last season and Gavalas -- the team captain -- was a first-team All-Ivy selection last season.
On the season, the men's team is 13-4, with a 3-1 Ivy League mark, while the women's team is 15-4, 3-2.
