Wisconsin's Wade to miss year, matchup vs. Penn

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Maurice "Boo" Wade, who was expected to compete for the Wisconsin point guard spot vacated when Devin Harris left for the NBA, is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team.

Coach Bo Ryan announced the move last Monday, saying Wade needed to "concentrate on some personal issues," and there was no timetable for his return. The coach didn't give any details.

The Penn men's basketball team will take on the Badgers on Nov. 20 in Madison, Wis.

Wade, a junior from Milwaukee, was suspended for two games last season after his ex-girlfriend accused him of choking her during an incident in early February at her apartment.

Wade pleaded no contest in April to two misdemeanor counts in a plea deal. A battery charge was reduced to disorderly conduct.
