Thomason gets Player of the Week in Volleyball
Despite Penn volleyball's disappointing start to the Ivy League season, junior outside hitter Cara Thomason has been nothing short of impressive. Thomason was named Ivy League Volleyball Player of the Week yesterday.
Despite Penn's home loss to Princeton, Thomason recorded 21 kills and 38 digs. It was the seventh time this season that Thomason had more than 10 kills.

F. Hockey Player of the Week award to Calahan
Junior Cara Calahan grabbed Ivy League Field Hockey Player of the Week honors following a two-goal performance in the Quakers' 3-2 overtime victory at Dartmouth Oct. 2.
Calahan has been the sparkplug for a Red and Blue squad that has played its best in sudden death, going 3-0 in overtime contests so far this season.
Against the Big Green, Calahan scored the game-winner seven minutes into the extra session. The goal gave Calahan a team-high 12 points this season, and the win allowed the Quakers to move into a second-place tie in the Ivy League standings.

Schiffner playing pro basketball in Germany
Former Penn men's basketball player Jeff Schiffner has made it to the pros, signing with the Bakken Bears in Germany.
In Bakken's most recent game against Aalborg, Schiffner led the Bears to a win with 23 points and three assists.

Four Penn grapplers in top 20 preseason poll
Four Penn wrestlers are ranked in the preseason top 20 rankings by The Wrestling Mall. The Quakers were picked to finish 14th overall as a team.
Senior co-captain Matt Feast received the highest ranking, third place in his 285-pound weight class. He was joined in the top 10 by senior Doug McGraw, who ranked No. 6 at 141 pounds. McGraw is the defending EIWA champion and a two-time NCAA qualifier at 141 pounds.
Penn begins the 2004-05 season Nov. 13 in Brockport, N.Y.
