Huckel joins Penn staff as assistant director

Penn football has added a new member to its staff in Kevin Huckel.

The Temple University graduate will assist with day-to-day management of practices, coordinate travel and accommodations for the team as well as file and disseminate online questionnaires from prospective Penn student-athletes.

Huckel graduated from Temple in 2004, earning a bachelor's degree in broadcasting, telecommunications and mass media while also minoring in journalism. From 2001 to 2004 he served as building supervisor at the Temple University Student Pavilion and was the football team's equipment manager from 2000 to 2004.

One aspect of his new job that Huckel should enjoy is the winning tradition of Penn football. While the Owls amassed a 13-33 record during Huckel's four years, a winning percentage of just .283, the Penn squad compiled a 34-5 record during that same stretch and won three Ivy League championships.

For the second straight season, the Princeton men's basketball team has lost a talented player before it began its season.

Harrison Schaen, a sophomore from Huntington Beach, Calif., has decided to take the year off from Princeton.

"I'm staying home with my parents and working on my game," Schaen told The Daily Princetonian. "I want to be here with my father and mother. When you need to be with your family, you gotta do what you gotta do."

Last season, talented forward Spencer Gloger left the team due to academic problems.

Schaen came into the Tigers program with impressive credentials, rated a top 200 prospect as a high school senior.
