Philadelphia Police have arrested two men suspected of robbing several students at gunpoint last week.
Two males drove up on the 4000 block of Irving Street at approximately 1:15 a.m. on the morning of April 16, got out of the car and robbed a student and his friend at gunpoint.
While proceeding west on foot toward 41st Street, they encountered two more students, who they again robbed in a similar fashion.
Several days later, they committed a similar robbery, and Philadelphia Police apprehended them.
"They were arrested by Philadelphia Police for committing a subsequent robbery in the northeast part of the city," Deputy Chief of Police Michael Fink said.
University of Pennsylvania Police have not yet obtained a warrant for the arrest of the two suspects, and so their identities could not be determined.
"The two individuals are in jail. They have been identified, [and] we know who they are," Deputy Chief of Investigations Bill Danks said, adding that once they get the warrant, the police will "obtain a writ to bring them here, then charge them for those robberies."
The officers said they expect that the suspects will be charged in the next few days.
