Gymnastics to Yale for Ivy League opener

Only one thing can be expected when the Yale and Penn gymnastics teams face off -- a close meet.

When the two squads competed last Jan. 25, the Elis won by a minute 1.20 points, 189.45-188.25. And just when you thought that meets couldn't get any closer, they did. At last year's Ivy Classic, Yale literally beat Penn by a mere fraction for the Ancient Eight title, .3.

However, this is a different year. The Elis have lost all three dual meets on their season, while the Quakers are 1-0 in dual meets, defeating Wilson on Jan. 12.

Last weekend, Penn scored an impressive 189.075 at the George Washington Invitational. Sophomore Emily Petkun was named ECAC Co-Athlete of the Week for her performance at G.W., while freshman Kara Dewhurst's efforts at the meet earned her ECAC Rookie of the Week honors.

M. Track to Beantown for BU's Terrier Classic

If this year's Terrier Classic is anything like last season's for the Penn men's track team, the Quakers will have quite the enjoyable trip to Boston this weekend.

At last year's meet, now graduated Brian Adams and Sam Burley set Penn records in the 55 and 800 Meters, respectively. Current junior Dusty Lieb also set a program indoor record in the 5,000 Meters.

Last weekend the Quakers finished second at Navy, beating Robert Morris and Virginia Commonwealth.
