The expectations were awfully high coming into this football season. The Quakers were coming off an undefeated Ivy campaign and had 15 starters returning this season, including quarterback Mike Mitchell.

In addition, last year's home victory over Harvard drew national media attention. With the rest of the Ivy League seemingly weaker, the Quakers appeared to have a clear path to a second straight title.

And the team did not disappoint. Despite some early injuries, the Quakers have embarked on yet another undefeated season, with a 15-game winning streak dating back to last October.

Last week, losses by Harvard and Yale assured the Quakers a share of the title, but this weekend, the team beat Harvard to secure the school's record-setting 10th outright Ivy League title.

Our congratulations go out to the entire Penn Quakers football team on another Ivy Championship. Head coach Al Bagnoli and his staff have been the stewards for a team that hasn't lost an Ivy game since 2001 and hasn't lost a game at Franklin Field in this millennium. With a win this Saturday over Cornell, there will be much-deserved celebration across the campus.

But the football team isn't the only squad bringing home some hardware. With wins over Dartmouth and Harvard this weekend, the Penn volleyball team clinched a share of their third straight Ivy League title and can win the conference outright with a victory this Wednesday night over Princeton at the Palestra.

We are confident that both Quaker teams will handily defeat their opponents this week. But even if they don't, they have already done this school proud.
