The Penn volleyball team (22-5) advanced to the NCAA tournament for the second straight season, but suffered the same fate this time around: a first round defeat, this time to Penn State in Happy Valley.
The Nittany Lions swept the match, winning 3-0.
Despite being shut out, the Quakers played the Big Ten opponent tough, especially in the first and third games.
In game one, Penn led 16-12 before Penn State stormed back to tie the game at 18 and eventually won the game 30-23.
The Nittany Lions dominated game two from beginning to end, winning 30-10.
After the intermission and only one game away from seeing their storybook season end, the Quakers got off to a quick start taking a 5-3 lead. However, Penn State took over, and although the game was close throughout, won 30-26
