Sports Brief: M. Swimming collides with SUV

The Penn men's swimming team had little trouble in the pool this weekend, as it raced to a fifth-place finish in the highly-competitive Miami(OH) Invitational. The bus ride home - well, that's another story. Five hundred and seventy miles into their 592 mile journey from Oxford, Ohio, the Quakers' team bus was side-swiped by an SUV on the I-76. "We were just driving. We were minutes away from Penn and all of a sudden heard a loud scraping noise on the side of the bus," Penn freshman swimmer Jeff Organisciak said. "The whole bus was shaking, and it just seemed like it was going to tip over. "It was kind of scary." Despite the fact that the bus was traveling nearly 50 miles per hour at the time of the accident, there were no serious injuries sustained in the crash. "[Freshman] Pat Brugh busted his head," Organisciak said. "It wasn't too bad - it was actually kind of funny." Although the Red and Blue have two matches at Sheerr Pool before taking to the road again - Penn competes at Navy on Jan. 19 - the intrepid Quakers have no fear of any future road trips. "I don't think we're apprehensive to travel again," Organisciak said. "You expect that something like this could happen. We'll be all right."
