To the Editor: I am writing in response to the article "Students' votes hinge on abortion views" (The Daily Pennsylvanian, 11/2/00). It really disturbs me to see how many students defend abortion. I'm sure this has to do with their desires for freedom to become whomever and whatever they wish and to live life to the fullest. However, I urge them to consider that every child who is conceived also has the right to become someone and experience life. If the basic right to be born alive is not protected by the law, no other human rights matter because they have already been undermined by the idea that only certain children deserve to be born and the rest can be aborted. The fact that illegal abortions will occur is not any more of a reason to keep abortion legal than the fact that illegal murders occur. The question is, what do we value as a society? This election is a chance for each voter to make a decision for the life or death of the children of America. God can bring healing to any situation, and good out of any evil, but murder of an innocent child is never the right choice.
