Who's Who at Penn: A guide to the people who hold the power at the University of Pennsylvania: Eduardo Glandt, Engineering Dean

It may have taken more than a year, but Eduardo Glandt can finally control the school he's run since 1998.

Glandt, dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science, served as interim dean from August 1998 until November 1999, while a committee searched for a permanent Engineering School head, finally zeroing in on the man that was right under their noses.

A Chemical Engineering professor who received both his master's and doctoral degrees from Penn in the mid-1970s, Glandt has been a professor since 1975. He served as chairman of the Chemical Engineering Department from 1991 until 1994.

Glandt's main project right now is the construction of Levine Hall, a $15 million facility to be constructed near the Towne and Moore buildings. The project is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2001.

The building will house a Computer Science facility and will be used to enlarge the University's Institute for Advanced Science and Technology.

The 55-year-old Glandt is a native of Argentina and a 1968 graduate of the University of Buenos Aires.
